Sandie Somerville

Sandie Somerville

Sandie Somerville MBE, who died in 1961, founded the Scout Troop at George Watson's Boys College in 1908.

Sandie's efforts were not limited to the 9th: there was considerable activity in trying to help the unruly youths of the Canongate. The Watsonian Scout Centre was one of his attempts to help introduce Scouting in the area and give support to other troops.

Other Organisations helped by Sandie and The Watsonian Scout Centre

He was also instrumental in starting the Craigmillar Boys Club (colloquially known as Sandie's Club) in the 1930s to give more support to the boys in that area.

The Club continued up to 1996 when it was taken over by the Local Authority.
