9th Braid Scout Group – Events

28th February 2020: Informal Get-together at Myreside

Former members of the 9th Braid (formerly Morningside) (George Watson’s College) Scout Group are cordially invited to an informal get-together at Myreside Pavilion on Friday 28th February 2020, from 7.30pm onwards.

The primary aim is to meet old friends to reminisce about our Scouting days - in some cases over 50 years ago, but still a strong memory for many of us. Slides and memorabilia will feature, but mainly we will be talking to each other. If the evening proves successful, we will repeat it, possibly two or three times each year – to be decided.

There are a couple of things we would draw to your attention:

  • First, we have had a small archive group beavering away for some time to put all the 9th records we could lay our hands on onto the Group website, and the result is now an impressive archive. Please have a look. You will find a vast collection of photographs, maps, log books, even some videos. Try searching for your own surname – you might be astonished! We are always on the look-out for material, so if you have any items from your Scouting days stashed away in an attic or cupboard, please bring them with you on 28th February.
  • Secondly, some worrying news: the current Scout Group at Watson’s is desperately short of leaders. If you know of anyone who might be willing to help, in any capacity, please reply to this email.

We hope you are able to join us on 28th February.

Kind regards,

9th Archive Group (Donald Easton, Geoff Bulmer, Nigel Ferguson, Alan Masson, Mike Masson, John Murison)
